At the young age of 75 I (finally) retired from my ad agency business in March of 2016. I was looking forward to many things but none more than simply having the time to decide what I might want to do with my life.
One of the first ideas bubbling to the surface was to go way back to my 18 year old self that had decided not to pursue sports writing despite the protestations of the most influential, demanding and excellent mentor of my life, my high school journalism teacher.
Despite my advanced age (yes, it is just a number), I decided I wanted to go back there. The sports editor of my town’s local paper gave me a chance and gave me a game to cover (See my first blog post). I was inspired by the game and quickly fell back in love with sports writing and with the teams and their coaches.
There are few things more pure and unspoiled than high school sports.
I do intend to include here interviews with people that I find unusual and/or interesting in some unique way. The interviews will likely not be related to the world of sports.
I'm also experimenting with some memoir work, some of which I'll be including here under the memoir scenes menu.
While I do hope that others read and enjoy the stories here, it is admittedly much about me and my desire to honor my own work deserving or not.
Leave me a message if you like.
